Opening the forum, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov highlighted the strong potential for economic cooperation with Bulgaria and emphasized that the partnership should be based on mutual investment and practical collaboration.

A Kazakhstan –Bulgaria business forum was held in the capital of Kazakhstan with the participation of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev. The event served as an important platform for discussing the prospects of bilateral economic cooperation, enhancing collaboration between the business communities of both countries, and advancing joint investment initiatives.

Opening the forum, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov highlighted the strong potential for economic cooperation with Bulgaria and emphasized that the partnership should be based on mutual investment and practical collaboration. According to him, Kazakhstan is interested in launching joint production ventures and supporting companies from both countries in entering new markets.

On the Bulgarian side, Boyko Takov, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, delivered a welcoming speech and expressed confidence in the high potential of business cooperation between the two countries, particularly in innovation, ICT, tourism, and agribusiness.

During the panel session, representatives of government agencies, businesses, and industry associations discussed specific projects and promising areas for joint implementation. Participants included Deputy Chairman of the Board of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC Madiyar Sultanbek, Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Employers and Innovative Technologies Dobroslav Dimitrov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Ivan Vasilev, and other forum delegates.

One of the key outcomes of the forum was the signing of two agreements. The national company KAZAKH INVEST and Bulgaria’s Acta Climate agreed to implement a joint reforestation project in Kazakhstan using advanced climate technologies. The second agreement — between JSC “Shymkentmay” and the company “Lekkerbek” — outlines the construction of a modern food production complex focused on manufacturing preservative-free, long-shelf-life products. The project’s investment is estimated at $20 million, with implementation set to begin in the near future.

The forum concluded with a series of B2B meetings between business representatives from both countries, where specific partnership formats, production localization, and technology exchange opportunities were discussed. The business forum dialogue marked an important step toward forming new investment projects and strengthening trade and economic ties between Kazakhstan and Bulgaria.
